Day 103: Marathons, Marbles, Moo

(Mile 1610 to 1636.5 = 26.5 miles)

We herded cows today. Get along!

Just over a marathon of a day.  And it feels like it, too!  Today was some fairly rugged Sierras-like terrain with we're-almost-to-town miles.  Needless to say, it is late, and we are beat.  And we still have 25 for tomorrow.  However!  I checked the map and the last six are ROAD miles!  These will kill the feet, but will be fast miles.  I am not going to tell Gumby and hope that she doesn't check the maps.  It's a good surprise.

THE Marble Mountains.

A few good things about today:  I finally saw the Marble Mountains!  A mini-Sierras of Northern California.  Worth a visit.  We are cowboy camped on a windy ridge!  And to bed before 11 PM.  Hooray!  AND...my phone camera came back to life today.  Who knows for how long.  But long enough to catch a few shots of the cows we chased down the trail this afternoon.  :)  It was a riot.  And they all had bells.  It sounded like an old giant wind chime.  And we felt like cattle dogs.

Dusk from our beds on a windy ridge. Heavenly. Actually it was! Perseids meteor shower!

But this is all for tonight.  I am beat, and there is a long day ahead before town.  Three days to Oregon!
